QWAK,the STAGE is COMING! :)
QWAK,Some one built a replica of an old Butterfield Stage coach and is driving a team of horses from Fayetteville Ar. to Fort Smith Ar. and ware ever posable using what is left of the old Butterfield stage road. That means they will go right passed my drive way on the 3 day 40 mile trip at 4 mph with 4 horse power!:hahaha::haha::haha:
Back in the 80s (1980s) the locals would drive there cattle down the road to pasture but now the use tralors. Butterfeld stage has not run in 150 years! should be somthing to see as it passes the DUCK NEST!:s9::applause_ Hope I don't miss it! the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,the STAGE is COMING! :)
Offer water for the horses and "a cool beverage" for the drivers, you'll get a chance to participate and have a nice chat, make some new friends.

QWAK,SWRichmond,That would be cool and I have a little pond right off the road ware the horses could water however about a mile and a half farther down the road is an arteasion spring ware (when the stage was runing) they would stop and the man who owns the land keeps it open to the public for use just like it was 150 years ago. I figure that is ware they will stop.
In the passed others have been similar things with a covered wagon usualy about the time of the rodio. Free advertising I supose. They don't make much noise so like I said I hope I don't miss them, I would like to record it going passed the DUCK NEST!:s9: Actualy the road DOES cut threw my property --- perhaps I should put up a TOLE BOOTH! :thinkey::questionm charge a DIME -- in SILVER! The butterfield stage was robed on that road shortly after the cival war and the gang got SILVER dolar mint blocks in the robery that were headed for the Denver mint. The gang owned an old very rich SILVER mine and they used there SILVER to make real US SILVER dollars with MORE than the 90% the Government used!:D It is a long story but the mine was hidden when the Secret Service was closing in and the entrance blown up. No one has been able to locate that mine but a lot of people have tried to find it!:s1: It could be on my property but no way to know -- but it is fun to IMAGIN!:thinkey: the DUCK |

Perhaps it would like to live her and catch rats like Thomas did?:questionm:thinkey::dontknow: I believe in FREE WILL for CRITERS TOO. Told it that it was welcome but it would not let me get close so far:wink: -- free will free choice at the DUCK NEST!:s9: the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,the STAGE is COMING! :)
What fun! I hope you'll get pics and post them here.
I used to live in a little town in New Hampshire in the 1980s that had an egg man who still delivered eggs in a horse-drawn wagon that looked like a gypsy wagon. His father and grandfather had done the same, and he didn't see any reason to upgrade to a truck. Funny town. They realized one day that they had no records whatsoever of the water pipes in town. They dug down to them and discovered the old wooden ones had never been replaced, and we were getting our water through wooden pipes. I was living in an old Victorian house then that had only been marginally upgraded and updated (seriously, some of the rooms had coverted gas lights with their original wiring, and yes, they did catch on fire once), so I often felt like I'd stepped back in time. |

Mailmen in my city still walk from house to house regardless of the weather. I love it!
